Competition/Past Championships/Slalom Worlds 2004
IFCA SLALOM WORLDS CANCELLED!
Sincere apologies for the cancellation of the IFCA Slalom World Championships.
It was a late call, but the closing date for entries was also late [more](10th Oct) - only 2 weeks away from the start. Only 12 entries were received by the closing date - of course we could expect some late entries; but from my experience we would struggle to get 20! Entry fees have been refunded in full.
It would have been irresponsible not to face facts about the legitimacy and viability of the event.
Not only is there responsibility towards you the sailors, but also to the many others who would be implicated in the organisation.
If IFCA is to succeed in promoting and developing slalom, with ISAF approval, it must comply with ISAF regulations governing World Championships. It would not be a good start to undermine this from the beginning!
40 competitors were needed from 3 continents and 10 countries. This is the overiding reason behind the cancellation.
IFCA are pleased to announce the 2004 SLALOM WORLDS will be held on the Isle of Wight, UK from 25 to 30 October, along with the Fat Face White Air Extreme Sports Festival 2004.
Visit the White Air website for event and venue information.

Excellent accommodation and travel deals for spectators and competitors.
