Day three at the 2014 AWT Pistol River Wave Bash will go down as one of the most impressive contest days the US west coast has ever seen. The action across all divisions was intense and fiercely competitive with the wind gusting over 30-knots and sets rolling in constantly in the head-to-logo-high range. It was simply amazing.
The final: Marcilio Browne (current world champion), Kevin Pritchard (8-time world champion), Camille Juban (2-time AWT overall champion) and Levi Siver (PWA Aloha Classic champion and multi-AWT winner) . . . does it get any better than this?
The waves didn't seem to find Pritchard quite as easily in this heat forcing him into fourth position despite landing extremely difficult Back Loop variations and solid powerful wave rides. Browne may be the king of the Double Forwards in this group, but Juban landed one along with one of the strongest wave rides. Still, Juban was pushed back into the third place on the podium. Browne landed three Doubles in this heat alone with each one scoring better than the next. Against most this would guarantee victory but not here as Siver's strong wave rides with huge tweaked airs and massive Back Loops secured him the title. Congrats to all the competitors for an amazing show!

"Wild action, massive crashes, destroyed equipment and a whole lot of fun! With the wind up and the waves down a little, it was back to Pistol River for the conclusion of the heats. The highlight for me this week was watching the Amateurs pushing their limits every day. To see riders improve with each session is so rewarding and fundamental to the aims of the AWT. Hats off to all those who challenged the status quo. Heat of the day for me was the first Pro semi-final, possibly the most amazing AWT heat I have ever watched. Thank you for making judging so tough and so much fun!" - Chris Freeman / AWT Head Judge
