The Miami Slalom Open took place this weekend at Virginia Key, Miami, FL - a downwind slalom windsurfing race, 3 to 5 jibe finishing at the beach, every Class having a separate start. Unfortunately not enough wind on day 1 wind, but it finally decided to show up on day two.
It was after 4 when the whitecaps appeared on the horizon. The sailors were called to a skippers meeting and the boat headed out to set the line. In the end, 3 races were completed in 11-13 mph winds with Kianni Kurosh taking 2 bullets and a second. The level of commitment from all the sailors who were pushing it until the sun went down was impressive!
Day Three saw an impressive 8 races. There was no beating Kurosh Kiani (DEN 13) in the Pro Fleet - he took the bullet in every race! Sean O'Brien (AUS 120) was second overall and Jean Patrick van der Wolde (CUR 191) was third.
