43 competitors from 11 European countries have pre-registered for the Zwitserleven Texel European Championships which kicks off this weekend. Part of the Texel Sailing Week, which includes the "Round Texel" race (since 1978 the biggest catamaran race in the world with about 500 competitors), this is a huge event guaranteed to draw upwards of 25,000 spectators!
Returning to the spot where the 2009 Slalom Worlds took place are Antoine Questel from France, Adriaan van Rijsselberghe from the Netherlands and Turk Bora Kozanoglu, all hoping to take the European title. We also have Maciek Rutkowski from Poland who took the 2009 Youth European title at Schonberg, then the 2010 Youth World title at Hyeres earlier this year.
We are also delighted to welcome our youngest competitor, 12 year old Ethan Aldert Westera, who comes all the way from Aruba.
Stay tuned for all the news as it happens.
