Current Ranking | | GP Sines - Final Results Posted On: 10/05/2008 11:33:06 PM The last day of the Grand Prix here in Sines was incredible. We set out in the morning for two formula races, the wind was around 16-20 knots. At 2pm, we started the slalom, the wind started picking up very fast and at first we had around 22 knots, but that soon increased to 30 with gusts going up to 35 knots.
Most sailors had big boards and sails registered for the slalom and some had to do miracles to hang on to them. On the first final, Wojtek who was going really fast took an easy win. On the second Final, Steve took the win and the Slalom title. After the slalom, we all started packing up and at 7pm, we had award ceremony.
To summarize, the event here in Sines was incredible, 11 formula races, 5 rounds of slalom, great venue and superb organization, a special thanks to all from the Overpower club that made this happen.

We rigged the formula gear and started the first race at 11am. After the formula races, we started getting ready for slalom. A downwind course was set with 4 jibes and a finish by the beach, which made it really exciting for the sailors and spectators as well. With the Northern wind blowing cross-shore, between 10 and 12 knots, the beach of Sao Torpes, Sines became the perfect arena for this competition. ......( more ) |  | | Posted On: 27/04/2008 10:56:59 AM Less than 2 weeks to the start of the Portugal Windsurfing Grand Prix which begins on 6 May. Sines, a municipality in the Setubal region, will be hosting its first major windsurfing event; and long term IWA partners - Overpower Clube - are to be congratulated for securing the support of the town council and its many business sponsors.
The event is a two discipline racing regatta for Formula Windsurfing and Slalom.
